Ripple Original

"Dairy-Free, As It Should Be. 100% Vegan. 8 grams of protein. Nut-Free. Dairy-Free. Lactose-Free. Gluten-Free."

The first thing that really gets me about Ripple is "Half the Sugar of Milk." It's one thing to compare apples to apples, or in this case - sugars to sugars; however, milk has natural sugar and Ripple's sugar is added! Yes, it is #canesugar but sugar is sugar. You will quickly learn that this is a pet peeve of mine... #sugar is never needed. If a sweetner is required, keep it healthy and add Coomb's Grade A Maple Syrup (or local honey.) The great thing about maple syrup is that very little is needed to sweeten.

Vitamin A palpitate supplements are not appropriate for everyone, such as pregnant women and those with liver disease. (see Healthline.com)

Scientists have found that vitaminA can spur excess skin growth, known as hyperplasia, and that in sunlight, retinyl palmitate can form small molecules called free radicals that damage DNA (NTP 2000). (see EWG.org)

Multiple studies of tricalcium phosphate have shown it to be safe for both human and animal consumption. These studies have concluded that calcium phosphates can aid in bone and mineral regeneration. As a nutritional supplement, tricalcium phosphate is comparable to other calcium supplements. (see Healthline.com)

Declared “generally recognized as safe(GRAS)” by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). (see us.myprotein.com) If the FDA doesn't declare it SAFE, then you know it's NOT good.

Researchers suggested that all foods containing phosphates should be labeled as dangerous to public health. According to their research, accumulating phosphates in the body can cause organ calcification in people with renal failure, and even in people without kidney problems. (see healthline.com)

Dipotassium phosphate(K2HPO4) is a highly water-soluble salt often used as a fertilizer and food additive as a source of phosphorus and potassium as well as a buffering agent. (see pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov)

Guar gum may be harmful and can cause negative side effects. However, the amount found in processed foods is likely not a problem. Though fiber like guar gum may have some health benefits, basing your diet on whole, unprocessed foods is the best way to achieve optimal health. (see healthline.com)

Generally, gums, emulsifiers, and thickeners undermine the quality of a food. There is a big difference between an almond milk touting 1g of protein and 12 ingredients (some of which antagonize mineral absorption) vs. an almond milk with 5g of protein and two ingredients. (see elmhurst1925.com)

It is widely used as a thickener, emulsifier, and stabilizer. It has E number E418. It was an integral part of the now defunct Orbitz soft drink. It is used as the gelling agent, as an alternative to gelatin, in the manufacture of vegan varieties of "gum" candies. (see en.wikipedia.org)
